As part of the decision process for college admission, colleges and universities utilize students’ scores on the ACT or SAT. The High School Counseling Department encourages students to take both of the tests because some students perform better on one test than the other. Some of the frequently asked questions are:
1. When should I take the ACT or SAT? Students should schedule their initial tests during the spring of their junior year. If they wish to take the test a second time, they should do so in the fall of their senior year.
2. Where do I register for the ACT or SAT? Both the ACT and SAT prefer that you register online. In both cases online registrations are given preference over paper registrations. Information on the ACT including how to register can be found at www.actstudent.org. Information on the SAT including how to register can be found at http://sat.collegboard.org. Paper applications and general information books for both tests can be obtained in the Counseling Office.
The ACT/SAT and colleges want to know what high school you attend. When registering be sure to include the Brandywine Heights High School code number which is 394-830. If you do not include the code, the high school will not receive a copy of your score report. 3. Where can I take the ACT or SAT? Both the ACT and SAT are given at various locations in the area. Test centers are listed by state and then the city/town within the state. Brandywine Heights High School is an ACT test center for the October, April and June test dates.
